The European Council on Foreign Relations (ECFR) cordially invites you to an on-the-record event on European and UK energy security.

Energy security is not only about guaranteeing predictable prices for consumers and businesses. How much we pay for our gas and electricity is the result of numerous economic and geopolitical considerations. Recent dramatic changes in the international and European energy landscape –deteriorating EU-Russia relations, an increasingly ‘energy-dominant’ US, the Qatar crisis, and energy market volatility – once again throw the security of UK and European energy supply into the spotlight. Central Europe has been at the crossroads of many of these crises and learned to adapt its strategies. What lessons can the UK business and policy community draw from experiences in Central Europe?

This event will highlight how changing energy circumstances in Central Europe can affect energy security in Europe and the UK.

Wojciech Jakóbik (@wjakobik) is an energy analyst and Editor-in-Chief of BiznesAlert.com, a leading website for decision makers providing insights into key energy and infrastructure issues. Dr Chi-Kong Chyong (@chyongck) is Research Associate and Director of Energy Policy Forum at the University of Cambridge. He advises corporations and governments on energy modelling. His research covers policy and economics of international gas and electricity markets, Russian natural gas export strategy, and Russo-Ukrainian energy relations.
