The PKN Orlen’s production division began drilling of the Bajerze-2 well, another well in the Unisław-Gronowo concession area. Its total depth will be ca. 3600 meters and the drilling and tests will take about 70 days. The Bajerze-1K well drilled last year provided data, which confirmed the Edge project area was prospective and made it possible to continue the works.
The Bajerze-2 well is located in Kijewo Szlacheckie in the Kijewo Królewskie county in the kujawsko-pomorskie voivodeship. It is in the Unisław-Gronowo concession area (no. 51/2008/Ł), which is part of the Edge project. This is the second well drilled as part of the concession. The previous one was Bajerze-1K and was drilled in 2016. The tests confirmed commercial flow of hydrocarbons.
„The positive results of analyses conducted in the Bajerze-1K, Tuchola-3 and Tuchola-4K wells conducted between 2013 and 2016, confirm the that the Edge project is prospective when it comes to the presence of commercial hydrocarbons,” Janusz Radomski President of the Management Borad at Orlen Upstream said.
„However, we need to remember that this is just the exploratory stage of the area, so we still need to conduct a detailed analysis of the project’s profitability before we actually decide to develop the discovered deposits. We will be able to make a decision on investing only in the next stage,” he added.
The Edge project area includes five concessions: Brda-Rzeczenica, Bysław-Wudzyń, Chojnice-Wilcze, Tuchola N and Unisław-Gronowo, located in the Kujawy and Pomerania regions. It was added to the PKN Orlen exploration and production portfolio at the end of 2015.
Additionally, this week Orlen Upstream started works in the south of Poland. The Pasieki-OU1 well, which is currently being drilled, is located in the concession area Blok 435 in the podkarpackie voivodeship. It will be 2600 m deep and the works in this location will end in autumn.
